Power From on High: The Example of the First Pentecostal

Wait, Receive, Go

Mark 16:15 | He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

Luke 14:23 | “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.

Matthew 28:19 | Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Getting lost in Pentecostal experience without a clear mission is confusing at best and a dead end at worse.

**Being missional without relying on God's Spirit means missing out on the power God has for the work He calls us to. **

Jesus, the First Pentecostal

Luke 4:1 | Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

Luke 4:14 | Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.

Luke 4:16-19 | He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, 17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, 19to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
